iVNT Ethernet

iVNT Ethernet is a part of the iVNT Software Solution Suite and enables telecom carriers to plan, activate and operate their network and services using Provider Backbone Bridging, Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE), as currently being defined by IEEE 802.1Qay. iVNT Ethernet enables strategic and operational planning of PBB-TE networks, path-computation and connection-management to enable PBB-TE capable Ethernet switches to establish Ethernet Switched Paths (ESPs).

PBB-TE – Carrier Grade Ethernet

Provider Backbone Bridging, Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE) is a new technology aimed at providing carrier-grade Ethernet transport for telecom companies. PBB-TE is a connection-oriented, packet-switching technology that enables wide-scale deployment of Ethernet Switched Paths (ESPs) as a deterministic transport mechanism.

iVNT Ethernet enables telecom companies to:

  • Unleash the capabilities and benefits of connection-oriented, packet-switched Ethernet transport.
  • Facilitate rapid deployment of Next-Generation Ethernet transport and services, through “point-and-click” ESP service creation, reducing the time-to-revenue.
  • Provide extensive protection mechanisms to enable stringent, competitive service-level-agreements (SLAs) to be met and ensure revenue is not lost under adverse network conditions.
  • Reduce and defer network infrastructure capital investment.
  • Optimise Ethernet service characteristics to provide an enhanced customer experience, resulting in a reduction of customer churn.
  • Reduce the time and complexity of planning, modelling and activating PBB-TE networks.
  • Enable extensive network capacity scenario modelling and “what-if” failure simulation and analysis.

iVNT Ethernet leverages the proven and extensive capabilities of Aria’s other iVNT products, including the iVNT Adapter framework. iVNT Ethernet has the same “look-and-feel” as the existing iVNT products, providing a very consistent range of products that are highly functional, easy-to-use and with consistent capabilities across the product suite.
