iVNT Optical

iVNT Optical is intelligent planning and optimisation software for Wavelength Division Multiplex (WDM) networks. iVNT Optical enables Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) for WDM network infrastructures to be effectively deployed at the right time and the right place, and reduces Operational Expenditure (OPEX) by removing manual and labour intensive processes.

iVNT Optical can be used to plan and optimise WDM networks that operate with or without dynamic management or control plane architectures such as those provided by Automatically Switched Optical Networks (ASON) or Generalised Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS).

iVNT Optical enables you to:

  • Represent and visualise network scenarios comprising 40, 80 or 160 wavelength Optical Cross-Connect (OXC) WDM systems, Optical-Electric-Optical (OEO) WDM systems and In-Line Amplifiers (ILAs).
  • Build network scenarios which represent any moment-in-time in the life-cycle of your network and compare “now” and “next” scenarios.
  • Understand how your traffic impacts the resource utilisation and capacity hotspots in your WDM network and plan future network capacity and equipment based on forecast demands.
  • Undertake comprehensive and automated event and failure analysis to understand and alleviate the impact of failures of WDM systems, fibres, vendors, or shared-risks such as power or ducts.
  • Optimise the route of one or many bi-directional wavelengths on a WDM network using any network and service policy or rule, and optionally using ASON/GMPLS topology data. Combine without restriction any network property and constraint to represent your required policies.
  • Optimise the optical characteristics of wavelength paths (considering the optical characteristics of fibres and WDM systems) and derive paths and Explicit Route Objects (EROs) for use by management systems or the control plane.
  • Route one or more wavelengths with end-to-end protection paths (1:1, 1+1) with a range of options for relaxing or exempting path protection needs to meet any protection design rule.
  • Explore and understand the relationship between network resources and individual wavelengths, showing all services originating, terminating or transiting network resources.
  • Asses and minimise the impact of planned-engineering-works by re-routing specific services away from any specified resource.
  • Plan green-field or brown-field scenarios and optionally plan and optimise all or parts of the network.
iVNT Optical is part of the iVNT planning and optimisation suite of products and is integrated with the proven and flexible capabilities of Aria’s iAdapt and iCustomise frameworks. iVNT Optical has the same “look-and-feel” as other iVNT products providing a very consistent range of products which are both highly functional and easy-to-use.
